The 2022 Australian Biathlon Championships are being held over two days and are selection events for the Australian National Team, Australian National Junior Team and Australian Development Team.
Format
Saturday 13th August: Sprint | 30 secs intevals
Sunday 14th August: Mass Start
Cost: $50 per event
Race Office: Race office will be open from 8.30am to 9.15am. Entry bibs should be picked up during this timeframe.
Zeroing: Zeroing will commence at 9.30am to 10.20am and will be in two stages.
9.30am to 9.50am for U18, U16, U14 age classes.
10.00am to 10.20am for other age classes.
Please nominate the coach who will zero you when registering your entry. If you donot have a coach for zeroing , please input "No coach" when registering and a zero support person will be provided for you .
Racing: Will commence at 10.30am for U14's to U18's | Under 22's, Open and Masters will commence at 11.30am.
Starting Order: Start order will be randomly drawn for each Age Class for Saturday sprints. For Sunday, the event is a mass start and athletes in the same age categories will commence at the same time. Start times will be advised.
Presentations: Will commence at approx 1.30pm, or may be earlier if results calculation has been completed.
Official Training: Official training will be held on Frday 12th August between 10.00am and 2.00pm.
Range Closure: The Range will be closed from 2.00pm on Friday 12th August to prepare for racing.
Skiing Up: Skiing up may be permitted for one age category above the athletes DOB age category dependent upon prone/standing shooting/racing requirements and 2024 WYOG age groups. Permission requests should be sent to the Executive Officer for approval. Where there is less than 3 athletes of the correct DOB entered in the skiing up age category, athletes will not be permitted to ski up.
Volunteer Race Assistance: Biathlon races require volunteer assistance from all age categories and classes to be held. Please nominate the name of a person who will be able to provide volunteer assistance with your entry. They do not have to be a licensed shooter to assist.
If you donot have a volunteer to support your entry, please nominate yourself and a role will be allocated around your race starting time. It is aimed to have two Teams of Officials (A Team and B Team) so all are also able to have some time watching the racing.

Notes a) * Athletes who are turning 18years in 2022, but will not be 18yrs on the day of this event, will race in the U18 age category due to firearms licencing laws and supervision of minors. b) All competitors must hold a Minors Permit or Firearms Licence issued by a State or Territory in Australia. Overseas shooting licences will be accepted by arrangement. c) Order of age class racing and zero times will be advised with release of the Start List |
