The 2024 Australian Biathlon Championships (.22 calibre) are being held over two days and are selection events for the Australian National Team, Australian National Junior Team and Australian Development Team.
Format
Saturday 10 August 2024: Sprint | 30 sec intervals (Selection Race 3)
Sunday 11 August 2024: Mass Start (Selection Race 4)
Cost: $80 per race (inclusive of common waxing and GST)
Race Office: Race office will be open each day from 8.30am to 8.55am. Entry bibs should be picked up during this timeframe.
Range and Course Briefing: A Range briefing will be held at 9.00am each day, followed by a Course briefing.
Zeroing: Zeroing will commence at 9.30am to 10.20am and will be in two stages - to be confirmed. All competitors are required to confirm that they have a zeroing coach for each race, if not booked by Biathlon Australia.
Common Waxing: Skis need to be dropped off with BA the evening before the race 6pm or before. For those arriving late please contact us individually so appropriate arrangements can be made. On the day, entry to the race is not permitted without skis being treated through common waxing. Common waxed skis will be available for pick up at the time of Athlete's entering into the starting gates for their race.
Racing: Will commence at 10.30am for Under 22's followed by Open, then U18, U16, U14's then Masters - time to be confirmed.
Starting Order: Start order will be randomly drawn for each Age Class for Saturday sprints.
Presentations: Will commence at approx 1.30pm.
Official Training: Official training will be held on Friday 9 August 2024 between 10.00am to 12 noon.
Range Closure: The Range will be closed from 1.00pm on Friday 9 August 2024 to prepare for racing.
Skiing Up: Skiing up may be permitted for one age category above the athletes DOB age category dependent upon prone/standing shooting/racing protocols. Permission requests should be sent to the Executive Officer for approval. Where there is less than 3 athletes of the correct DOB entered in the skiing up age category, athletes will not be permitted to ski up.
Volunteer Race Assistance: Biathlon races require volunteer assistance from all age categories and classes to be held. You will be asked to nominate the name of a person who will be able to provide volunteer assistance with your entry. They do not have to be a licensed shooter to assist.
If you do not have a volunteer to support your entry, please nominate yourself and a role will be allocated around your race starting time. It is aimed to have two Teams of Officials (A Team and B Team) so parents who are volunteering to assist are able to watch their children.

Notes a) * Athletes who are turning 18years in 2024, but will not be 18yrs on the day of this event, will race in the U18 age category due to firearms licencing laws and supervision of minors. b) All competitors must hold a Minors Permit or Firearms Licence issued by a State or Territory in Australia.
