Dear Biathlon Australia family,
Congratulations ALBERTO ALLAN & PHOENIX SPARKE for being the Biathlon Australia biathletes for the month of January 2025.
Alberto won two gold medals at Austrian Cup #4 in Seefeld, shooting clean 0,0 in the 6km Sprint and 0,0,0,1 in the 7.5km Short Individual.
Phoenix achieved an amazing top half result at the 20km Individual at the Open European Championships (1,0,0,0) in Martell and earning 101.18 Q points (reducing his average to 147.68). And a 4th (out of 30) at the 7.5km Sprint at the FESA Alpen Cup in Hochfilzen (1,1). And ... has been granted a wild card by the IBU to represent Australia at the upcoming World Championships at Lenzerheide (together with Darcie Morton and Noah Bradford).

Special mentions to:
- Damika Morton for winning a silver medal at the U17 10km Individual at the FESA Alpen Cup (0,1,1,1) in Hochfilzen and an 8th (out of 29) in the 6km Sprint.
- Matt Wilby's sharp shooting (0,0) at the 10km Sprint at the Junior Open European Championships in Altenberg. Only one of five to shoot clean in the Sprint.Incredible shooting (clean with 10 spares) by our JOECH relay team of Sebastian Packer-Smith, Rhiannon Castle, Matthew Wilby and Chili Sparke under the excellent leadership of coach Julia Smusz.
- Taryn Dickens' and guide Heather Bundy's debut at the Para Biathlon World Cup in Val di Fiemme
- Darcie Morton's world standard 9th fastest first leg (0,0,0,0 +1:29.0) in the OECH Women's Relay at Martell. And is currently Australia's only IBU Cup athlete with a "better than average" ski performance and World Cup hit rate of greater than 80% this IBU season to date.
- Boris Stanish for shooting 1,0,0,1 and placing 65th in the 15km Men's Short Individual at IBU Cup 5 in Brezno-Osrblie, Slovakia and shooting with a hit rate of greater than 75% this IBU season to date.
- Isabella Moon's flag bearing honour at the FISU World University Games in Torino, who, together with Noah Bradford represented both Biathlon and Cross Country at the Games
